Native to the tropics of East and Southeast Asia, this plant is known for its external ‘stilt’ root structure, which supports the trunk and eventually becomes their own trunks. The roots are the main focal point of the plant and where its name comes from - Ginseng means roots in Chinese. As an indoor plant, the ficus ‘Ginseng’ takes on a bonsai appearance, but in the wild it’ll grow into a tree with trunks that are ever-expanding by way of the external root system.
Ficus microcarpa requires bright light. Very bright indirect light to full-sun is best. It can grow in lower light as well, but won’t grow as fast or produce as many leaves.
Water once the soil is completely dry to halfway dry. It stores water in its roots and trunk, though it doesn't want to sit in dry soil for too long.
Planted in a 4” nursery pot. Every plant will vary in size, color and shape.
Nationwide shipping, NYC delivery and pickup available. Delivered Bare root.
